West Virginia Caving Trips
Songer Whitewater is excited about several new activities and amenities for the 2008 season. While everyone knows there are plenty of outdoor adventures to pursue in the Mountain State, we managed to find a couple more offerings to provide to our guests. This season we'll be exploring the limestone caves of our neighboring Greenbrier County with our new Wild Cave Adventures.
Wild cave tours provide those with an adventurous spirit the opportunity to go far beyond a standard walking tour and explore undeveloped parts of the subterranean environment. Our expert guides will lead you on a 4-hour trip through more than a mile of chambers and passageways that require some strength and agility to negotiate. Explorers of all ages are welcome. At the end of your journey, you will emerge from the cave covered in mud, but will be rewarded with the experience of a lifetime.
Passageway names such as The Birth Canal and The Keyhole provide clues as to some of the adventure in store for you in the wild cave area. There are also large chambers, with spectacular formations throughout your subterranean journey.
No special equipment is necessary. Beyond your own clothing and boots, we will outfit your expedition with helmets, lights, kneepads, and gloves. A light snack and water are also provided during the tour. Your guide will capture your experience on film, from the start to the muddy end. Each person will receive a set of photos of the expedition at no extra charge.
