The New River Gorge National River was established for its scenic beauty and rich culture and history. Explore the historic town of Thurmond, West Virginia which lies along the banks of the mighty New River. Your guide will walk you through the 'streets' of the town, sharing with you its history and colorful stories from the past. We'll stop by the New River Gorge National Park Service's restored railroad depot (and museum), still in use today as a whistle-stop for Amtrak's Cardinal. This Upper New River trip is great for families, scouts and youth groups. A little education won't hurt either.
