Spring Alternative Trip, Gauley River Rafting
Enjoy a totally new perspective of the scenic Gauley River with a spring or summer trip. Water levels frequently change, making each trip a unique adventure that may find you in a raft or duckie. We closely monitor the Gauley River water levels and will match the craft to give you the best ride possible. It's the best of the Gauley in the most exciting craft. With our new access point, we can take you to the best river sections for spring or summer whitewater excitement.
What makes this trip great? It's the most remote wilderness-like raft trip in the area. Our guide staff lives for this trip and loves sharing the experience with first-timers and experienced paddlers. Our guide staff is specially trained for these trips and will provide helpful tips to make your day fun and exciting.This exciting, technical challenge requires familiarity with moving water. The whitewater is Class III+ to IV when using a duckie. This is harder than going in a paddle raft with a guide. We ask that everyone is in good physical condition and can swim. We reserve the right to change river sections if we feel that you are not well suited to the rigors of this adventure.
Water levels are measured in CFS (cubic feet per second) and dictate the craft for the day.
- 250 - 650 CFS
- Duckies will be used. Guide to guest ratio is 1 to 5 for your safety.
- 650 - 4000 CFS
- Rafts will be used, either 4, 6 or 8 person rafts chosen for the best possible ride.
Gauley River High Adventure Option
Want to kick it up a notch by running some of the Gauley’s more aggressive, challenging lines? We have light-weight, maneuverable 13-foot rafts that can accommodate up to 6 adventurous rafters. Cost is an additional $35 per person. Experience the power of the river in the most nimble of craft!
1-day Spring/Summer Gauley
Experience the Gauley like few have. As the outfitter located closest to this legendary river we can run this wilderness stretch at a range of levels outside of the Fall Gauley flow. This is a specialized high adventure trip, so good physical condition and an ability to swim are a must. We finalize the craft and river section the morning of the trip, based on conditions of the day and an evaluation of your abilities and interests. You may be in a nimble four-person raft or carefully led through the big drops in your own ducky (inflatable kayak)! Dates available, April 1 thru September 9, 2009.
