The Gauley is calling…

Monday, August 25th, 2008

2800 cfs pounding out of the Summersville Dam can only mean one thing – Fall Gauley season. It's that time of the year when familiar faces start pouring into Southern West Virginia from all over the world. The reason for this annual 7 week pilgrimage is the world-famous Upper and Lower Gauley and the 23 days of scheduled big water releases.

Guests and guides alike begin salivating in sweet anticipation of those classic class V drops and huge wave hits. Gauley season starts on Friday September 5th; there's just enough time left to make plans for an adventure weekend getaway down here in Wild, Wonderful WV! Here’s a guide tip, slip out of the office Thursday afternoon or stick around down here ‘till Monday, and you’ll see what it’s like to beat the crowds and have the amazing Gauley River wilderness nearly all to yourself!

The Gauley is calling. Are you listening?
