Who doesn’t like taters?!
The highlight of our trip was our rafting adventure down The New River. There were three boats that went in our little caravan down The New. The guides were outstanding! First of all, let me talk about Fidge. He was the one who laid out the ground rules on the bus ride to the drop in spot. He scared me a bit, but made it clear on what to do if something didn’t go exactly to plan or should I say what to do when things went exactly as planed! Then there was Ben. For some reason I instantly trusted Ben. I think that is a huge characteristic for a guide trustworthiness. When he said, “Yeah, take the elevator shaft†or “Dude, you can flip off this rock†or “Stand on top of ‘Jesus Rock’, it looks like you’re walking on waterâ€, I trusted him. Thanks Ben and Fidge, you guys rock too.
Glad you had fun with Ben and Fidge….these two, like all of our guides, love what they do and it shows.
For a moment, I must sing Jonna’s praise. It is great when you see someone
who loves what they do. It’s evident that Jonna loves being a guide. She was incredible! The first time our boat flipped, I was a little scared. However, when I popped out of the water and saw her standing on top of the boat laughing with her ever-so contagious laugh, I knew everything was good. Jonna made sure we had a great day. She is top notch; when we come back, and we are coming back, we will request her.
That being said, my friends and I do plan to do a Gauley trip this fall. Jonna said that, because she is going to be teaching this fall, she may miss some of the season. Could you please let me know when she will be available so we can take this into consideration in our scheduling.
Jonna is one of a kind. Better get in line and call soon to request her….she isn’t called “The River Goddess†for nothing.
Thanks again everyone. See you this fall! Best Personal Regards, Mark Shaftner
Glad you had a good time Mark…look forward to seeing you this fall.
