New River Gorge Rafting
Cradling one of the oldest rivers in the world, the New River Gorge is a geologic masterpiece formed over millions of years. The New River offers a wide array of whitewater adventure experiences as it cascades north through the Appalachian Mountains. The Middle section offers playful waves and beginner friendly rapids, perfect for family fun. The Lower New gets steeper as the gorge constricts, creating over 20 legendary big water rapids before you take out beneath the awe-inspiring New River Gorge Bridge.

Our Lower New River trips, suitable for all skill and experience levels ages 12 and up, are available as half-day, full-day and overnight adventures.
Ready for the rapid just ahead, you look around to soak-in your surroundings. The size of the Gorge and the cliffs looming hundreds of feet overhead are humbling and larger than life. The river’s current begins picking up speed as you enter the rapid. The river suddenly drops, catapulting your raft down a slide and then up the face of a giant wave. You’re looking up at the sky, wide-eyed and smiling. Your crew continues paddling as a team, from one wave to the next, water crashing from all sides as your friends yell in excitement. The water calms, prompting paddle high–fives and water-soaked smiles. As you turn and look upstream you realize what a special place the New River Gorge is.

There’s no better way to showcase the mountain state’s diverse whitewater offerings! Kick it up a notch on the thrill-o-meter each day. Raft the formidable Lower New on day one, followed by the classic Lower Gauley on day two, and top it off with the grand-daddy of them all, the Upper Gauley on day three.

2-day New River Gorge Overnight
For those who desire a multi-section wilderness experience, there’s nothing better than camping out along the mighty New River! Immerse yourself in the river experience. On day one, enjoy the playful rapids and calm pools of the Middle New. That evening, share a hearty meal grilled riverside before relaxing by a blazing campfire with your favorite beverage, reliving the day with friends and family. Retire to your spacious Songer tent to sleep beneath the stars. Begin the second day with a full, hot breakfast before challenging over 20 class III-V rapids of the Lower New River.

Dueling Rivers
For those who love the rafting part! Discover the great variety of whitewater contained in our two favorite rivers. The first day is spent challenging the rapids of the Lower New on a full-day trip and the second day is spent paddling the Gauley River. Available April 1- September 4, dependent on water level.

Known as ‘The Gorge’, this has been our most popular New River trip for 30 years! From crashing waves to calm pools, this trip provides the perfect blend of exhilaration and relaxation as you navigate through Class III –V rapids. Lower New Express
On a tight schedule? Enjoy most of the same rapids from our popular full day trip at a quicker pace. You’ll skip jump rock, swimming rapids, and a riverside lunch, but you’ll still get to experience the spectacular Gorge setting and America’s Best Whitewater. Lunch can be arranged back at the Songer base camp. Perfect for those just passing through the Mountain State.

Lower New Sundown Dinner

Want to kick it up a notch by running some of the more aggressive, challenging lines on the river? We have light-weight, maneuverable 13-foot rafts that can accommodate up to 6 adventurous rafters. Cost is an additional $25 per person. Experience the power of the river in the most nimble of craft!
1-day Middle New River
Playful rapids, fun river games, and spectacular canyon scenery combine to create our most popular family trip, enjoyed by all ages. You’ll set out down the Middle Canyon of the New River, enjoying the warm summer water and easy Class I-III rapids. The scenic Middle New River can be enjoyed in a raft or a 1 or 2 person duckie (inflatable kayak) for no additional charge.

2-day Family Overnight
Get the entire family together for two amazing days on the river. Combining outdoor adventure, fun and relaxation, the overnight format offers quality family time away from the distractions of TVs, phones and video games. You’ll raft and play on the river each day, then camp out under the stars on a riverside beach. Your guides will set-up camp and prepare delicious riverside meals while you and the family swim, explore the base camp, or simply relax with your feet in the water. After dark, the bonfire becomes the focal point, with ghost stories and ‘smores for all! There’s no better way to share timeless family memories with those you love.

3-day Family Adventure Overnight
Combine the awesome wilderness experience of the river overnight with your favorite Add-on Canyon Adventure. Choose from horseback riding, rock climbing and rappelling, mountain biking, or snorkeling. After getting back from the river on day two, you’ll recharge at the Songer Base Camp overnight before setting out to challenge the canyon with the guided adventure of your choice.
