Very few rafters, even seasoned veterans, ever give themselves the chance to run this amazing river outside the fall drawdown season, but the summer Gauley is a secret ready to be exposed. You'll have the river totally to yourself, experiencing the big thrills the Gauley has at all kinds of different water levels, in all kinds of different inflatables. Depending on the amount of water being released from Summersville Dam, your trip will go to the best section the Gauley has to offer on the day of your reservation. What to Expect:

  • 5 to 7 hours from the time you leave basecamp
  • 4 to 6 hours on the water
  • We call the Summersville Dam on the morning of your trip and the amount of water that the Army Corps of Engineers releases determines what section of river we run and what type of boat we run it in. You could be on either the Upper or Lower Gauley in rafts or the Middle Gauley in individual inflatable kayaks – we will pick the most adventurous trip.

Extras:

  • Water and air temperatures may warrant wearing a wetsuit in the spring. Wetsuits maybe reserved when making a reservation or the day of your trip.
